Project Description

Adjacent to the Yellowstone River, Black Bridge Recreation Area is made up of 71.33 acres.  Mature cottonwood trees and scattered brush serve as a refuge for local wildlife and shelter for recreational visitors.  A trail encompasses the area, which skirts part of the River.  There are fishing spots for walleye, sauger, catfish and various varieties of rough fish.  With varying depths of up to 30 feet, the river is a safe-haven to native fish species.

Purpose

Conserve local habitat, restore riparian lands along the Yellowstone River and provide an outdoor recreation area.

The Black Bridge Recreation Area offers recreational activities like fishing, hiking, camping and wildlife viewing to locals and visitors to the area. Walleyes Unlimited, with the help of funds from the Montana Fish & Wildlife Conservation Trust and other partners, conserved local habitat and restored the riparian lands along the river.  This area benefits the public by providing a much needed outdoor recreation area for the Glendive community.  A portion of the funds established a road, gate and fence for the area.
