Project Description
The presence of native shrub species, from snowberry to willow, make the Riverdale Ranch property blaze with color during the Spring and Summer months. Located along the Missouri River, the area features 240 acres of riparian habitat and 410 acres of sprawling dryland cropland with 200 acres of grasslands that provide white-tail deer, turkey, pheasant and other game birds habitat. Lofty cottonwoods serve as critical nesting territory for bald eagles.
Purpose
Preserve and protect the conservation values of the property and provide public recreational hunting access.
The diverse terrain of the 850-acre Riverdale Ranch property provides important habitat for a variety of native species. With the help of funds provided by the Montana Fish & Wildlife Conservation Trust and the Habitat Montana Program, a conservation easement has been purchased by Fish, Wildlife and Parks. The land will provide winter grazing for native wildlife by converting former dryland crop land back to native shrub grassland. Access to the Missouri River on the property and public hunting of local game birds are permitted in the area.

Located 5 miles south of Ulm, Montana, north of Cascade, Montana. Follow Old US Highway 91 going south from Ulm about 5 miles.
