Project: Steve Powell Park consists of 22 acres of parkland along the Bitterroot River in the city of Hamilton. The park includes a ponderosa pine woodlot, and provides habitat to fish, waterfowl, and large ungulates, like deer and moose.
Purpose: Steve Powell Park protects habitat and provides access to trails and the Bitterroot River for the community. Located in the city of Hamilton within walking distance to many neighborhoods as well as the business district in downtown Hamilton, Steve Powell Park will be a tremendous open space resource for residents and visitors to the city. A trail alongside the river throughout the park will enable visitors to travel within the park with ease
Directions: South Access: From the corner of West Main Street and Highway 93 in Hamilton, MT, travel west for 0.70 miles to the Demmons Fishing Access. Walk north approximately 500 feet along the high water mark of the Bitterroot River to a trail at the wooden fence that provides access to the park.
North Access: From the corner of West Main Street and Highway 93 in Hamilton, MT, travel north for 0.56 miles. Turn left onto Adirondac Avenue and travel west for 0.83 miles. Adirondac Avenue terminates at the Corvallis Canal. Proceed on foot across the pedestrian only canal bridge along the canal path until you reach a large steel pipe that extends across the canal. This is the approximate north property border. Continue along the canal to the pedestrian bridge that provides access to the interior of the park.
